WhatsApp is facilitating E-Commerce with its new upcoming feature
WhatsApp will enable the users to search businesses within the App
WhatsApp is releasing its new feature that will allow the users to find nearby businesses within the App for the first time as per the news report of Reuters.
WhatsApp head Will Cathcart announced the feature on Wednesday and said “we’ve built this in a private way.” Cathcart further elaborated that the company won’t log the user’s location or the business user is looking for. He also said that if you live in Sao Paulo then you can search for local shops using WhatsApp business via the “Business Nearby” menu in the new chat option.
According to Reuters currently, this app is being tested in Sao Paulo, Brazil. This option lets the WhatsApp users search services and shops through the directory present in the application. Matt Idema, Facebook’s Vice President in an interview this week said
“This could be … the primary way that people start a commerce process in WhatsApp”
WhatsApp has elaborated that the new test will involve thousands of business categories like food, retail, clothing, and other local services across São Paulo neighborhoods. Idema further elaborated that after Brazil this feature will be launched in India and Indonesia.
But still, the customized eCommerce applications are more powerful and useful because they provide users with more choices by scanning their location and other demographic factors. And for a startup, the eCommerce application is quite useful.
