With an aim to deliver groceries in less than an hour, the online grocery delivery platform Buymie secures €7 million.

The Dublin-based online grocery delivery platform, Bymie has received  €7 million in investment, bringing its total new funding to €18.2 million. The startup is now backed by prominent investors such as backers of the company such as Grosvenor Food & AgTech, Sure Valley Ventures, Haatch Ventures, Act Venture Capital, and HBAN.

Other prominent investors in the round were Eamonn Quinn former Deputy Chairman of the Superquinn Group and Chairman of Buymie and Keith Weed, former Chief Marketing and Communications Officer at Unilever.

Founded in 2015 by Devan Hughes, the online grocery delivery app Buymie allows people to order groceries and other household items as well as get them delivered in less than an hour.

Owing to the new capital raised, CEO Buymie shared,

“This capital will allow the business to continue its focus on developing best in class technology while helping our retail partners transform their online and in-store capabilities to better serve their customers and unlock growth opportunities.”

How does Buymie ensure a seamless shopping process?

Buymie helps customers to shop whatever groceries or household items they want from a local store. It also allows customers to note specific preferences on their orders and a personal shopper is then appointed to customers. Thus, making a seamless communication with customers during the entire shopping process.

What makes Buymie stand out from the rest is that it allows the groceries to be delivered in less than an hour by a personal Buymie shopper.

Earlier this year in March, Buymie announced a partnership with Asda to launch the personal shopper grocery service in Leeds and Bristol and build a customized ASDA Express App. The partnership with ASDA has brought great credentials to the company.

Keith Weed former Chief Marketing Officer of Unilever shared,

“The grocery retail landscape is being transformed by platform technology. It is very clear that the growth and margin opportunities of the future for retailers will be unlocked through capabilities facilitated by businesses and technology like buymie”

As on-demand service solutions have offered great convenience to customers in terms of ordering household items using a mobile app, Buymie is continuing to expand in both Ireland and the UK.

The personal shopper service that Buymie offers is now available to over 2 million households across Dublin, Limerick, Cork and Galway and Leeds and Bristol. Moreover, Buymie has expanded its team to 70+ with over 400 personal shoppers.
