March 24, 2021 | 1 minutes read

As time is passing, more and more people are preferring to access the internet using their smartphones rather than computers. From only 17% in 2015, the number of people who used their smartphones to for online activities has risen to 41% by 2020.

Canadians made more than 36 million mobile connections in January 2020 alone. Also, based on research, it has been found that 98% of younger Canadians (between the ages of 15 till 24) own a smartphone. This implies that the mobile marketing in Canada is only expected to increase in the future.

Other than this, according to Research, 66% of visits to the most popular sites around the globe came from smartphones in 2020. In spite of the fact that a lot of people still spend 40% longer on desktop sites as compared to mobile sites, the pandemic appears to have negatively affected our attention spans, since bounce rates are presently equal for both; mobile and desktop devices. Also, due to the pandemic; and lockdowns, a 110% increase in online sales was reported from May 2019 till May 2020.

Furthermore, after months of delay, Google has announced that it will be launching mobile-first indexing in March 2021, which means that mobile-optimized websites will now be appearing at the top of the search result.
