Amazon says the Digital Currency and Blockchain Product Lead role will look over customer experience, technical strategy, and launch strategy.

Businesses are opening up to the idea of accepting cryptocurrencies as payments including Amazon. It seems like that the e-commerce giant is considering the option as well according to a new job posting on the company’s official website. Amazon doesn’t accept cryptocurrency as a possible form of payment, but the company is looking for a Digital Currency and Blockchain Product Lead. The selected candidate will be playing a significant r0le in developing “Amazon’s Digital Currency and Blockchain strategy and product roadmap.”

The candidate should exhibit expertise in “Blockchain, Distributed Ledger, Central Bank Digital Currencies, and Cryptocurrency” which will help to “to develop the case for the capabilities which should be developed, drive the overall vision and product strategy, and gain leadership buy-in and investment for new capabilities.”

The job listing suggests a possible payment future for cryptocurrency if Amazon starts accepting cryptocurrency and Bitcoin as payments. A company’s spokesperson said “We’re inspired by the innovation happening in the cryptocurrency space and are exploring what this could look like on Amazon. We believe the future will be built on new technologies that enable modern, fast, and inexpensive payments, and hope to bring that future to Amazon customers as soon as possible.”

Apple advertised the same job opening in May when they were looking for a business development manager with expertise in the cryptocurrency industry. The listing hinted at a possible move towards cryptocurrency payments as it included the following:

“We are looking for a proven professional in global alternative and emerging payment solutions”.
