This can help in the treatment of patients with Epilepsy, Parkinson’s Disease, and obsessive-compulsive disorder, and depression. AI-based software and technologies have helped the healthcare industry in treating patients better. This technology checks the electrical signals in the brain and the interaction of different brain regions that helps the doctors in the placement of electrodes for stimulating devices to treat brain diseases.

Kai Miller, M.D., Ph.D., a Mayo Clinic neurosurgeon and the principal scientist of this project said:
“As new technology emerges, this type of algorithm may help us to better treat patients with epilepsy, movement disorders like Parkinson’s disease, and psychiatric illnesses like obsessive-compulsive disorder and depression.”
He further said:
Our findings show that this new type of algorithm may help us understand which brain regions directly interact with one another, this, in turn, can help guide the placement of electrodes for stimulating devices to treat network brain diseases.
